Following a very detailed independent assessment of our dental practice in June 2019, we were proud to announce that we are again Denplan Excel Certified. The Denplan Excel Certification Programme is an advanced quality assurance programme, developed for dentists to help support clinical governance, professional regulation and excellence in patient care and communication. The assessment is performed every 18 months, allowing the practice to remain Denplan Excel Certified.
The Denplan Excel certification programme is an additional mark of quality. Being an Excel Certified practice we also pledge to use the most appropriate procedures and dental knowledge to ensure patients are receiving the highest standards of care from start to finish, as well as encouraging patients to be involved in any decision making stages.
Being Denplan Excel dentists also enables us to access an online tool (DEPPA) at your check-up that helps you and your dentist examine your current oral health status and identify any future risks.
New Radiographic Processor
The Red House Dental Practice has taken a technological leap forward!
We’ve said goodbye to our old x-ray developer and welcomed a new system to take its place.
The new system uses phosphor plates instead of traditional films which are often thinner and should make acquiring the image a lot easier for patients. The plates are then transferred to a new processor which uses laser scanning to save the image straight into our computer software. It will hopefully make our x-ray developing easier and faster.
Being a fully digital system it also allows us to reduce the level of radiation in each exposure you receive.
The final image can be viewed and enlarged on our monitors, making it easier to show and explain our findings.
We are delighted to have Alison join us here at the Red House as part of our Dental Nursing team.
Alison brings a wealth of experience to the Red House team.
You will see Alison both in surgery and on reception. She has already proved to be a hit with the patients.
Like the rest of the team she has a bubbly enthusiastic manner and will continue you to keep you at ease at all stages of your care.
We love to learn...
The annual team CPR update was undertaken in October 2019.
Refreshing this essential skill ensures as a team we are prepared for emergencies if needed.
As well as the theory the team practiced emergency training within the dental surgeries as well as use of our defibrillator.
In July 2019 we had our annual Denplan Tailor-made training day, where we were looked after by the team at The Talbot Hotel.
This was a full informative day for the whole team, involving learning, interaction and updating core subject areas.
Areas of training covered included "the relationship between lifestyle and oral health", "managing change in practice" and "conflict resolution".
This is all done with the aim to ensure we continue to provide the highest possible standards of Dental care at all times.
The whole team attended a Cross Infection Training afternoon by Schulke & Mayr.
This included training in Cross infection control, Personal protective equipment and hand hygiene.
Our team got to try out hand washing techniques with special ultra violet gel which we could then check under an ultra violet light to see how effective we all were!
This training ensures that all the team are up to date in the best cross infection techniques.
Richard has completed his one to one training course in Dental Implants at Sheffield Dental School.
The course lasted just over 18 months and covered planning, placing and restoring implants.
